After 20 years as secretary of both Lewis-Arriola and Pleasant View elementary schools, Valorie Mortensen is retiring.<\/p>\n

And she left her decades of work to much fanfare. The school communities rallied for a parade Wednesday morning \u2013 a welcome event for Mortensen, who had missed seeing students for the past few weeks of school.<\/p>\n

At least 50 vehicles turned out for the parade through the Lewis-Arriola Elementary School parking lot, including firetrucks, police cars and horses. The May 13 event was organized by Jennifer Lanier from the Pleasant View PTO and Nikole Young from the Lewis-Arriola PTO.<\/p>\n

\u201cValorie has touched so many lives with her love and kindness,\u201d Lanier said.<\/p>\n
