Wednesday, Oct. 27<\/div>\n

1:57 p.m.<\/strong> A deputy responded to reports of a crash in the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145. The deputy observed one truck rolled onto its passenger side, one truck with a horse trailer that was damaged but upright, and a semitrailer stopped south of the others, facing west. The investigation was taken over by a Colorado state trooper, and the deputy cleared the scene.<\/p>\n

Sunday, Oct. 31<\/div>\n

4:37 p.m. <\/strong> A woman reported believing that her tenant was hunting on her property in the 29000 block of Road S.2 after finding shotgun shells scattered across it. The woman also suspected that the tenant was leaving other litter behind on her property, including an old couch he left at her burn pit. The tenant informed the deputy that he was on probation and could not access firearms, and that he was not responsible for the other litter. He reportedly did admit to leaving the couch in the burn pit, and promised the deputy to remove it the following day.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, Nov. 2<\/div>\n

5:21 p.m. <\/strong> A deputy performed a traffic stop in the 37000 block of Colorado Highway 184 after a car traveling westbound allegedly sped past him going 24 mph over the speed limit. The man driving the car could not provide a driver\u2019s license and was issued a court summons for driving without a license and speeding.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, Nov. 3<\/div>\n

12:50 p.m. <\/strong> A man reported that he found another man\u2019s driver\u2019s license and credit cards in the lower 100 block of South Broadway. The deputy took possession of the found items and attempted to contact the owner without success.<\/p>\n

2:36 p.m.<\/strong> A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St., after an inmate reported that his car was stolen. The inmate said a jail visitor told him that his car was in the 500 block of Arbecam Avenue. The inmate told the deputy that when he was arrested, he left his car to his girlfriend, and when she was arrested, she left it on Arbecam Avenue. The deputy located the vehicle and told the inmate that the car was not stolen and that this was a civil matter.<\/p>\n

3:14 p.m. <\/strong> A deputy responded to the lobby of the Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., when a man reporting that his temporary license plate had been stolen. The man stated that he was receiving toll fines and invoices from Denver County with photographs of his temporary license plate on another vehicle. The deputy verified that the temporary tags in the photos belonged to the vehicle registered to the man. The man stated that he threw his temporary tags away in September 2021. The deputy entered the stolen temporary plates into the NCIC\/CCIC system.<\/p>\n

8:50 p.m.<\/strong> A deputy observed a fight in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. Inmate No. 1 shoved inmate No. 2 with his shoulder, then inmate No. 2 put inmate No. 1 in a choke hold until he passed out and fell on the floor. Inmate No. 1 soon gained consciousness and was helped up by other inmates. Inmate No. 1 told the deputy that him and inmate No. 2 were friends and were just messing around. Inmate No. 2 said that he was defending himself against constant harassment from inmate No. 1. The deputy issued inmate No. 1 a court summons for harassment and inmate No. 2 a court summons for second-degree assault.<\/p>\n

Friday, Nov. 5<\/div>\n

10:50 a.m. <\/strong> A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to assist with a warrant service. The deputy took a woman into custody after Cortez dispatch confirmed her warrant. She was left at the Montezuma County Detention Center.<\/p>\n

1:21 p.m.<\/strong> A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to assist with a warrant service. Another deputy took the woman into custody after Cortez dispatch confirmed her warrant. She was left at the Montezuma County Detention Center.<\/p>\n

3:04 p.m. <\/strong> A sergeant responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to assist with a warrant service transport. The sergeant took a man into custody for failure to appear on a traffic offense and transported him to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E Driscoll St.<\/p>\n

3:13 p.m. <\/strong> A deputy observed a stationary car blocking the eastbound lane in the 21000 block on Road B. Upon making contact with the vehicle, the deputy noticed an alcoholic odor. The driver reportedly admitted that he had drunk three to five beers but refused to complete roadside maneuvers. The deputy arrested the driver, and the driver consented to submitting a blood test. The passenger\u2019s father picked up the car and the passenger. The driver was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he then refused to take a blood test. He was then taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center and issued a summons for DUI.<\/p>\n

Sunday, Nov. 7<\/div>\n

12:09 p.m. <\/strong> A sergeant responded to the 6100 block of U.S. Highway 160 after a trailer was reported stolen. The trailer was apparently borrowed by a friend of the son\u2019s owner and was never returned. The friend in question left a different trailer on the owner\u2019s property. The sergeant told his colleagues to be on the look out, and within minutes, the actual trailer was returned.<\/p>\n

1:56 p.m. <\/strong> A deputy responded when a man claimed that three men dressed as hunters were pointing their rifles at him and his friends, who were dirt-biking in the 17000 block of Forest Road 565. The man also claimed that the three hunters followed him and his friends up the road and continued to point their rifles at them. A game warden arrived, and the deputy assisted him in locating three supposed hunters. They were unsuccessful. The game warden took over the investigation. There are no leads or suspects.<\/p>\n

3:09 p.m. <\/strong> A deputy responded after a woman reported that her boyfriend threw a beer bottle at her in the 500 block of U.S. Highway 160. When the deputy could not find the woman, he called her and she informed him that she was at home and did not wish to speak with law enforcement. A sergeant at the woman\u2019s home confirmed that she had told him the same. The woman\u2019s father contacted the deputy asking what he should do, and the deputy told him to ask his daughter to stay with him, if he felt she was in danger.<\/p>\n

Monday, Nov. 8<\/div>\n

9:40 a.m. <\/strong> A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to assist with a warrant service transport. After Cortez dispatch confirmed the warrant, the deputy took a man into custody and booked him in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E.
