Dia de los Ninos<\/div>\n

San Juan College will celebrate D\u00eda de los Ni\u00f1os, Children\u2019s Day, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 29, at the San Juan College Learning Commons Plaza.<\/p>\n

The celebration hosted by San Juan College this year will bring together area libraries, performers, museums, organizations and clubs. Bloomfield Public Library will host book- and literacy-themed games and information at its booth.<\/p>\n

The event is free and family-friendly, and will highlight children\u2019s summer activities in San Juan County. There will also be games, prizes, face painting, child safety seat inspections and food for sale from the Colores Club. Luke Renner, the Yo-Yo Slinger, will perform yo-yo tricks.<\/p>\n

Exhibitors will include Farmington Police Department, Farmington Public Schools \u2013 Ready for Kindergarten, Bloomfield Public Library, Carrasco Dance Productions, Sycamore Community Center, San Juan College Kids Kollege, First Born, Farmington Fire Department, Safer N.M., Boys & Girls Club of Farmington, E3 Children\u2019s Museum and New Mexico Department of Health.<\/p>\n

Storyteller Series<\/div>\n

Farmington Public Library\u2019s Storyteller Series will host Guardian Initiatives members from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in the library\u2019s multipurpose room, 2101 Farmington Ave.<\/p>\n

Team Guardian members Mark Pfetzer, Jarrod Slindee and Mike Hogue will speak on their 3,000-mile rowing journey across the Atlantic Ocean. All three members are current or former members of San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office. The rowing challenge helped raise awareness and funding for first responder mental wellness and suicide prevention.<\/p>\n

Bark in the Park and Doggie Dash<\/div>\n

The annual Bark in the Park and Doggie Dash event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29 at Animas Park.<\/p>\n

The Doggie Dash opens the event at 10 a.m. and is free for community members and their dogs to participate in. The Doggy Dash loop in through Animas Park is about 2 miles. Registration is open through April 28.<\/p>\n

Dashers who preregister will receive a T-shirt. Day-of registration is from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and does not include a T-shirt. Event T-shirts will be available for sale when Bark in the Park begins.<\/p>\n

Bark in the Park Animal Welfare Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to attend. A variety of vendors and activities will be available.<\/p>\n

Museum EDventure Tour<\/div>\n

Farmington Museum & Visitor Center will host a Museum EDventure tour at 10 a.m. Friday, April 29, with participants meeting at the museum, 3041 E. Main St, and traveling as a group by bus to the canyon.<\/p>\n

Explore the cultural heritage of the Four Corners on an all-day field trip to Canyon de Chelly. The guided tour will provide hikers with historical and cultural information about the canyon.<\/p>\n

The bus will leave the museum promptly at 10 a.m. and will return at about 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

Tours are open to those 16 years old and older. Registration for the tours are $85 for museum members and $95 for nonmembers.<\/p>\n

Save Jane event<\/div>\n

Childhaven will host a \u201cSave Jane\u201d event from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Orchard Plaza Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cSave Jane\u201d refers to the names Jane and John Doe, which are used to identify children served by Childhaven without revealing their true identities.<\/p>\n

The event will promote Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month and speak for children who experience neglect and abuse. A focus of the event is to honor survivors\u2019 stories, gather agencies who provide vital services and promote advocacy and awareness.<\/p>\n
