Arrington St.<\/p>\n<p>Hillerman will speak on using historical landscapes in writing. She will discuss her newest book in the Leaphorn, Chee and Manuelito series, \u201cThe Way of the Bear,\u201d which delves into the topics of fossil harvesting, ancient lore, greed, rejected love and murder.<\/p>\n<p>The event will also pay tribute to historical society member and author Marilu Waybourn.<\/p>\n<p>After the event, Hillerman will sign copies of her book. Copies of \u201cThe Way of the Bear\u201d are available for purchase by Amy\u2019s Bookcase. The historical society\u2019s books, including those written by Marilu Waybourn, will also be for sale.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanjuancountyhistoricalsociety.org\/\" id=\"link-b59ed63f8bfd7cf935f04b22c2e39cb3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.sanjuancountyhistoricalsociety.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">San Juan College Orchestra performance<\/div>\n<p>The San Juan College orchestra will perform at 7 p.m., Friday, May 5, at Henderson Fine Arts Performance Hall, 4601 College Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra, conducted by Teun Fetz, will perform a variety of styles and eras, including \u201cArabian Dances\u201d by Brian Balmages, \u201cAshokan Farewell\u201d by Jay Unger and \u201cEspa\u00f1a Ca\u00f1i\u201d by Pascual Marquina.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra will also present a special performance of \u201cThe Romance of Violin\u201d and \u201cOrchestra No. 2\u201c by Ludwig van Beethoven, featuring Aubrey Harmon as the violin soloist.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra will also perform \u201cMimosa Shower\u201d by Yukiko Nishimura and \u201cSicilienne\u201d from \u201cPell\u00e9as et M\u00e9lisande\u201d by Gabriel Faur\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $6 for seniors, $8 for adults and free for children and students free. Locke Ave.<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s movie will be \u201cMrs. Doubtfire.\u201d Picnic tables are available, but attendees are invited to bring their own chairs or blankets as well. On-site food trucks offer a variety of dining and drink options to enjoy during the movie.<\/p>\n<p>No outside food or drinks are allowed, but s\u2019mores kits will be available for purchase for $3. Fire pits will be available for roasting s\u2019mores. All ages are welcome to attend, and this is a dog-friendly event.<\/p>\n<p>Movie nights are held every Thursday night. Participants will meet at the Outdoor Equipment Rental Center, 4601 College Blvd, and travel together to the hike location.<\/p>\n<p>The hike is 4.4 miles round-trip and features moderate switchbacks. Hikers should bring water and wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather and location.<\/p>\n<p>The hike is free for SJC students and $20 for nonstudents.
