Armed with a handgun, Brassard allegedly demanded the driver move into the passenger seat.

Brassard then drove the vehicle with the man inside to a location 10 miles north of Durango until the vehicle became stuck somewhere near Trimble Crossing, according to police.

During the incident, Brassard fired multiple gunshots from the handgun, though no one was injured, Davis said.

After the vehicle became stuck, the two men exited the vehicle. At that point, the victim was able to escape and flag down a car and call 911.

The victim, who is not an FLC student, was unharmed.

After the incident, Brassard is suspected of traveling on foot about 5 miles to the Iron Horse Inn, 5800 Main Avenue. There, Brassard allegedly kicked down a door valued at $800 and got into a fight with his wife.

Witnesses at the Iron Horse Inn reported the incident to Durango police around 10 p.m., said Cmdr. Ray Shupe.

By the time officers arrived, Brassard had left the scene. His wife, however, had a swollen lip indicative of physical abuse, Shupe said.

Brassard’s wife was uncooperative with police, Shupe said. After authorities were unable to locate Brassard, they issued the criminal mischief and domestic violence warrant.

Brassard is being held without bail as a result of the domestic violence charge. A warrant for carjacking is pending.

In April 2015, Brassard led authorities on a high-speed chase after Durango police received a report of a dispute between a man and a woman in downtown Durango.

In that incident, Brassard is believed to have fired a gun and taken an ex-girlfriend’s vehicle. The car chase lasted more than an hour, reaching speeds of 80 mph, before authorities immobilized the vehicle.

Brassard was charged with harassment, reckless driving, hit-and-run, drunken driving and felony eluding for that incident. It is unclear as of late Thursday how the case was adjudicated.

jromeo@durangoherald.com

[21,168,923,13,28

post-75801","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-cortez","tag-crime","tag-domestic-violence","tag-frontpage-lead","tag-headlines
["GET
