Jenifer Hufman recently announced her resignation as principal of Dolores secondary schools. She has served in this position since 2015.<\/span>Dolores School District Re-4A<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

The Dolores School District Re-4A is seeking a new secondary principal.<\/p>\n

The search comes in light of Jen Hufman\u2019s resignation, which she announced last week. It will be effective Oct. 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to have led this school to the highest academic rating in the San Juan BOCES for two years running,\u201d she wrote in a message to parents. \u201cOur staff are exceptional, and the rigor offered to students at our school is phenomenal. Our staff are committed to continuing this excellence and leading Dolores to even higher levels of achievement and growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hufman attributed her resignation to family considerations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision to end my tenure here was not an easy one, nor one that I took lightly,\u201d she wrote to parents. \u201cA drastic change to my sister\u2019s cancer prognosis, along with some other personal events, has prompted some urgency to create time and space in my life for connecting with those I hold most dear, beginning with my sister and my immediate family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn all fairness to students and staff at Dolores, it is best for me to take this time without trying to lead remotely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Re-4A Superintendent Lis Richard said the school likely will not have an interim leader. Secondary staff have worked out the transition to make sure everything is covered, she told The Journal<\/em> in an email.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have some viable candidates and will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition for the students and staff,\u201d Richard said.<\/p>\n

Hufman<\/a> has served as Dolores secondary principal since fall 2015. Before to coming to Dolores, Hufman was principal of Soroco High School in northern Colorado.<\/p>\n
