In 2019, 38 pedestrians have been killed, a 28% decrease from this time last year, when 53 deaths had occurred. In 2018, there were 1,544 crashes involving pedestrians in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>CDOT recommends the following safety tips to drivers and pedestrians:<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet_rr\">Make eye contact or nod.<\/em><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet_rr\">Use crosswalks.<\/em><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet_rr\">Follow the rules of the road.<\/em><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet_rr\">Use extra caution at nighttime.<\/em><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet_rr\">Eliminate distractions while driving and walking, including use of cellphones.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado Department of Transportation reminds drivers to use extra caution around pedestrians.
