{"id":73086,"date":"2017-01-26T00:07:32","date_gmt":"2017-01-26T07:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/blue-jays-split-weekend-contests\/"},"modified":"2017-01-26T07:07:32","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T07:07:32","slug":"blue-jays-split-weekend-contests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/blue-jays-split-weekend-contests\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Jays split weekend contests"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:8fdb76ff-c893-4813-a741-1512846c4c7b --><\/p>\n<p>The Mancos girls and boys alternated wins and losses in games last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In an away contest with Ridgway on Friday, the Lady Blue Jays got a season-high 18 points from sophomore Emily Cole and 13 points from senior Brittney Peacock, but fell to the Demons 58-34.<\/p>\n<p>However, the boys followed with a dominating 63-28 win.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Caden Showalter led the Jays with 24 points, and he also pulled down 11 rebounds. And junior Caleb Yoder did a bit of everything, finishing with 17 points, eight assists and eight boards.<\/p>\n<p>The roles were reversed on Saturday at home against Telluride.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Jays opened the afternoon with a thrilling 30-28 win after Peacock knocked down a last-second 3-pointer to put Mancos on top. She finished with a team-high 16 points and Emily Cole added 10.<\/p>\n<p>But then the boys dropped their game against the visiting Miners 89-58.<\/p>\n<p>Yoder led the Jays with 21 points and Showalter added 17. But Telluride junior Reed Schacht shot an incredible 9 for 10 from 3-point range and the Miners went 14 of 19 from deep as a team in the runaway win.<\/p>\n<p>Mancos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 games on Tuesday versus Ignacio were canceled and rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 31.
