Dunn started at the library about four months ago. She has lived in Mancos for about 18 months, but she has visited the area for the past 10 years, she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people at this library are wonderful,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great resource for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The speaker series \u201cLife is an Adventure\u201d features people from the area who have had a special experience, such as an adventure excursion to another part of the world. The first event in the series was Jan. 13 and featured Laurie Webster, who spoke on ancient artifacts from southeast Utah.<\/p>\n
Another speaker series will keep library patrons updated on history and current events. The next event will be Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and will feature Mike Preston, who will speak on the Colorado water plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cGetting to Know the Businesses in Our Backyard\u201d will showcase local companies from the Mancos area, such as Deer Hill Expeditions, Singing River Farms and Alpacka Rafts. An agriculture series will include talks on traditional and modern farming techniques on subjects such as weed control, grazing, hemp and orchard restoration. The library also is starting a classic film series.<\/p>\n
Dunn said she was impressed by how much the library is able to accomplish with limited resources. She said the staff is hard-working.<\/p>\n
