{"id":70865,"date":"2017-05-04T11:32:58","date_gmt":"2017-05-04T17:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/roadwork-to-begin-on-u-s-491-north-of-cortez\/"},"modified":"2017-05-04T17:32:58","modified_gmt":"2017-05-04T17:32:58","slug":"roadwork-to-begin-on-u-s-491-north-of-cortez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/roadwork-to-begin-on-u-s-491-north-of-cortez\/","title":{"rendered":"Roadwork to begin on U.S. 491 north of Cortez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Colorado Department of Transportation started a project this week to improve a 9-mile section of U.S. Highway 491 north of Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>The work, contracted to Oldcastle SW Group, of Grand Junction, for $6.9 million, consists of resurfacing, signing and striping of the highway north of Lebanon Road to about one-half mile south of the Colorado Highway 145 junction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis stretch of highway sees more than 5,700 vehicles a day, with 13 percent heavy truck traffic,\u201d CDOT engineer Tim Webb said in a news release. \u201cWe\u2019ll be removing and recycling the top layer of asphalt to correct surface cracking and imperfections before applying a new asphalt overlay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project also will include upgrades to 3,000 feet of guardrail on Colorado 184 near Narraguinnep Reservoir, the CDOT release said.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers can expect single-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, from May 8 to Nov. 30, the CDOT news release said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado Department of Transportation started a project this week to improve a 9-mile section of U.S. Highway 491 north of Cortez.
