{"id":70622,"date":"2017-04-11T14:52:38","date_gmt":"2017-04-11T20:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/easter-events-and-services-in-the-cortez-area\/"},"modified":"2017-04-11T20:52:38","modified_gmt":"2017-04-11T20:52:38","slug":"easter-events-and-services-in-the-cortez-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/easter-events-and-services-in-the-cortez-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter events and services in the Cortez area"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:24554a40-b7a0-4ebf-8cd1-14233d90e246 --><\/p>\n<p>The Journal<\/p>\n<p>Planning your Easter weekend?<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are a hunter, gatherer or spiritual type, there\u2019s a lot to do this weekend in the Cortez area.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at Easter egg hunts, church services and celebrations around town.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">The big hunt<\/div>\n<p>The annual Rotary Easter Egg Hunt is on Saturday, April 15, on the west side of City Park off Park Street, between Montezuma Avenue and Main Street.<\/p>\n<p>Areas will be marked off for youngsters ages 0-3, 4-6, and 7-10, Mayor Karen Sheek stated in an email, and kids can begin assembling at 9:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The signal for the start of the hunt will be sounded at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>This year, brightly colored plastic eggs will be filled with candy or coins. \u201cThis is a fun Easter weekend activity designed for little ones and a potential \u2018Kodak moment\u2019 for their families,\u201d Sheek said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, parents may enroll children up to 5 years old in the Imagination Library program, which mails children a free book each month, compliments of the Cortez Rotary Club.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t arrive late, Sheek said. \u201cOnce the signal is given, it doesn\u2019t take long to scoop up the brightly colored eggs!\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Sharing the harvest<\/div>\n<p>The third annual Phil\u2019s World Easter egg hunt and fundraiser will take place on Easter Sunday, April 16, at noon.<\/p>\n<p>Families should meet at the Phil\u2019s World parking lot and trailhead, County Road 30.1. Children will hunt for eggs on the Trust Loop, then smash pi\u00f1atas and receive prizes. Food and drinks served.
