Starting April 1, academic libraries across the state will offer state park passes to \u201ccheck out\u201d along with an activity backpack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that the ability to check out a state park pass from the local library encourages people to check out Colorado state parks,\u201d said CPW Director Bob Broscheid. \u201cColorado state parks offer some of the state\u2019s best opportunities for wildlife viewing and recreation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the 2016 pilot program, CPW surveys found that many visited a state park for the first time using a pass checked out from a local library.<\/p>\n<p>The program allows residents to check out a free, seven-day park pass for entrance into all 42 state parks along with a backpack filled with park information, educational activities and binoculars.<\/p>\n<p>All three public libraries in Montezuma County are taking part in the program.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CortezLibrary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cortez Public Library<\/a> at 970-565-8117, the <a href=\"http:\/\/mancoslibrary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mancos Public Library<\/a> at 970-533-7600, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/doloreslibrary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dolores Public Library<\/a> at 970-882-4127.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Libraries in Montezuma County provide a parks pass and a backpack containing park information, educational activities and binoculars.Colorado Parks and Wildlife Colorado Parks and Wildlife is expanding the Check-Out Colorado State Parks Program from public libraries to Colorado\u2019s publicly funded college and university libraries in 2017.
