{"id":69979,"date":"2016-09-13T01:37:29","date_gmt":"2016-09-13T07:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/alias-used-by-suspect-in-van-theft-chase-causes-confusion\/"},"modified":"2016-09-13T07:37:29","modified_gmt":"2016-09-13T07:37:29","slug":"alias-used-by-suspect-in-van-theft-chase-causes-confusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/alias-used-by-suspect-in-van-theft-chase-causes-confusion\/","title":{"rendered":"Alias used by suspect in van theft, chase causes confusion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=90f37e3b-9b0b-46d1-bff3-cfeab709811c&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\" alt=\"\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Jessica Pace\/Durango Herald file<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Some confusion arose on social media in recent days because a man arrested in connection to a vehicle theft and chase was using an alias.<\/p>\n<p>The man arrested last week after leading deputies on a high-speed chase near Silverton has been identified as Christopher Bagwell, 21, of Clovis, New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Durango police initially identified Bagwell as \u201cJames Lampley,\u201d but confirmed Monday that the name is an alias Bagwell has used on more than one occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Bagwell and his wife, whom police identified as Amanda Davalos of Tucson, Arizona, allegedly stole a white 1996 Ford van from a construction site at 3416 Main Ave. on Sept. 5.<\/p>\n<p>San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies later received a report of a drunken driver near a Silverton campground. Bagwell was driving the vehicle with Davalos in the passenger seat, deputies said, and when they tried to flag down the vehicle, it sped away.<\/p>\n<p>The van went off the road on U.S. Highway 550 and hit a tree near milepost 62.5. Bagwell was taken by ambulance to Mercy Regional Medical Center before he was booked into the La Plata County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>Davalos was airlifted to the hospital; she subsequently was reported as missing and, according to the Durango police blotter, she was spotted Sunday afternoon in a waiting room at Mercy.<\/p>\n<p>Police did not have any information about Davalos, only that she is thought to be in the Durango area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for her right now to interview her in connection with this case,\u201d Lt.
