A 60-year-old male was found dead on Sunday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on a trail near Haviland Lake, according to the La Plata County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Investigator Peter Berryhill did not immediately release the identify of the man, who is believed to be local, as next of kin needs to be notified.<\/p>\n

Berryhill said hikers reported the incident around 10 a.m. on a trail between Haviland and Electra lakes.<\/p>\n

He said it didn\u2019t appear the man was camping in the area. A pistol was found nearby.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looked like he was out there alone,\u201d Berryhill said.<\/p>\n

If confirmed, this would be the 11th reported suicide this year in La Plata County.<\/p>\n
