Five people were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital after a violent one-car crash on the West Fork Road north of Dolores on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
One person was airlifted by a helicopter sent from San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, according to rescue personnel.<\/p>\n
The other four were transported by ambulance. A Montezuma County sheriff\u2019s deputy said the cause of the crash is under investigation.<\/p>\n
The occupants\u2019 identities and extent of their injuries were not released.<\/p>\n
The Ford Explorer, driving on West Fork Road (County Road 38) toward Colorado Highway 145, veered off the road into a thicket of trees just yards from the West Dolores River about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, officials said. Three adults and two children were in the Explorer.<\/p>\n
Rico and Dolores fire departments responded to the crash, as well as the Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office, a Southwest Memorial Hospital ambulance and the Colorado State Patrol.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
