If you are unsure of your voting status, need to update your address, make changes to your record or need to register to vote please visit www. GoVoteColorado.com or come into the Montezuma County Clerk\u2019s office at 140 W. Main St. Suite No. 1, Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, Oct. 31 is the last day for an individual to submit a voter registration application and still receive a ballot in the mail.<\/p>\n<p>Signed ballots must be received by the clerk\u2019s office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8, for it to be counted. The Cortez post office reminds voters that it will take a week for your returned ballot to be delivered to the clerk\u2019s office via mail.<\/p>\n<p>Ballots will be sent to all eligible voters to the address on your voter registration, and after voting you can choose how to return the ballot. Either you can mail it with appropriate postage in time to be delivered to the clerk\u2019s office by Election Day; or you can drop it off at the clerk\u2019s office at 140 W. Main St. Suite 1 in Cortez. Be sure to sign the back of the return envelope.<\/p>\n<p>Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder Kim Percell wants to remind voters that because of the mail-ballot election, on Election Day there will only be three polling places instead of the 11 polls from past general elections.<\/p>\n<p>The three polling places for Election Day are at the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder\u2019s office, the Dolores Public Library, and the Mancos Public Library. On Election Day the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Percell said if you are unsure if your voter information is up to date, it is important  to check either at the county clerks office or at www. GoVoteColorado.com<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they don\u2019t have the correct address their ballot will be returned as undeliverable and they will not be forwarded,\u201d Percell said. \u201cI am hoping to get people to verify their voter registration address now so the ballot is sent to the correct address and hopefully we will avoid long lines at the three polling places on Election Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eligible voters may register to vote or request a replacement ballot at the county clerk\u2019s office during regular office hours, on Saturdays October 29 and Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Election Day at any of the three polling places.<\/p>\n<p>For questions call the county clerk\u2019s office at 970-565-3728.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beginning the week of Oct. 17, mail ballots will be sent to all active, registered voters to the address on your voter registration.
