After nearly three years at the helm, Dolores Public Library Director Debra Greenacre has decided to take a job closer to home.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really hard decision, but I need to be closer to my family in Michigan,\u201d she said. \u201cI will miss the people and the sunshine of Dolores.\u201d<\/p>\n
The library board is currently reviewing applicants for the director position, she said, and interviews will begin soon. Her last day is Oct. 7.<\/p>\n
Under Greenacre\u2019s leadership, the library added a lecture series, programs and services for kids and adults, and did some remodeling.<\/p>\n
To accommodate researchers writers and readers, Greenacre created a quiet room separated from the rest of the library by a large glass wall.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe responded to what the public said they wanted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The library also added a free online language learning service called Mango. The service offers lessons on more than 60 languages, English as a second language instruction, and specialty cultural courses including Romantic, pirate and medical Spanish.<\/p>\n
Also newly available since Greenacre took over is indieflix, on online independent film service offering award-winning shorts, features and documentaries from more than 50 countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m most proud of my staff and the board, we pulled together a hard working team to improve library services for the Dolores community,\u201d she said. \u201cThe people here have been very welcoming.\u201d<\/p>\n
