{"id":68772,"date":"2016-10-11T22:36:35","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T04:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/ride-of-the-ancients-returns\/"},"modified":"2016-10-12T04:36:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T04:36:35","slug":"ride-of-the-ancients-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/ride-of-the-ancients-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"Ride of the Ancients returns"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:958c66d5-3676-4daf-a35a-3641ff83d18f --><\/p>\n<p>The second annual Ride of the Ancients took place on Sunday in Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>Started last fall by the Southwest Memorial Foundation, the 100-mile ride offers interested riders \u2013 from casual bikers to professionals \u2013 the opportunity to ride for a cause close to home.<\/p>\n<p>Director Ashley Carelock described the event as a ride, not a race, and noted that all proceeds go to the Montelores Cancer Care Fund.<\/p>\n<p>There were 33 riders that met at Parque de Vida to begin the 100-mile course that weaved through McElmo Canyon and around Canyon of the Ancients National Monument before finishing back at the park for a post-race lunch party.<\/p>\n<p>The first team to finish the course was Colavita Southwest Cycling Team, consisting of James Bodine, Keith Ashmore, Sean Peck and Jimmy Kight.<\/p>\n<p>The first five individual riders to finish were Joseph Shults, Tony Englert, Ashley Carelock, Ben Voymas and Paul Beckler.<\/p>\n<p>Carelock estimated that the event raised around $3,000 for the Montelores Cancer Care Fund.<\/p>\n<p>She also said that it wouldn\u2019t have been possible without local sponsors picking up the tab for shirts, permits and other necessary costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe couldn\u2019t do it without them,\u201d she said. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t give away any money without the sponsors.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2nd annual 100-mile ride raises around $3,000 for Montelores Cancer Care Fund<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":68773,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[21],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-68772","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-cortez"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68772","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=68772"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68772\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/68773"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=68772"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=68772"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=68772"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=68772"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
