{"id":68441,"date":"2017-05-02T20:00:04","date_gmt":"2017-05-03T02:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/gop-kills-trump-inspired-tax-return-disclosure-bill\/"},"modified":"2017-05-03T02:00:04","modified_gmt":"2017-05-03T02:00:04","slug":"gop-kills-trump-inspired-tax-return-disclosure-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/gop-kills-trump-inspired-tax-return-disclosure-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"GOP kills Trump inspired tax return disclosure bill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=34a037ba-e1d0-491e-92b5-3ee6b0c26906&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" alt=\"\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>DENVER \u2013 A Democratic-backed effort to force presidential candidate to disclose their tax returns met its end Monday in a GOP-held committee.<\/p>\n<p>House Bill 1328, which would have made the disclosure of tax returns for the previous five years a requirement to be added to the state\u2019s ballot, was killed by the Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee on a 3-2 party line vote.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was motivated by President Donald Trump\u2019s refusal to disclose his tax returns and therefore violating what sponsors have called a \u201cunwritten rule\u201d of national politics that began with former President Richard Nixon.<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
