He took a job in Phoenix in early April and sent a resignation letter to the board on April 15. Board members Ryan Griglak, Jim Fisher, Jim Candelaria and Ernest Maness voted to accept his resignation on Monday, Nelson said they have a potential candidate to replace him.

Nelson said Mobley’s departure is unfortunate for the district, which has replaced three leadership positions – district manager, board president and a board member – in the past six months. She said she was happy for Mobley and wished him well.

Griglak suggested that the board reach out to the potential candidate.

“He’s come before the board a couple times, so I’m sure he’s still interested,” Griglak said.

The board also voted to suspend billing to the house at 311 N. Henry St., which was recently destroyed in a fire, for six months, and to move the sewer tap for the Cortez Fire Station to align it with the new location.

Board members also talked with a part-time Cortez resident, who asked for a refund on the late fees for his winter sewer bill because the bills had gone to his Cortez address instead of his winter home in Las Vegas. The board rejected the request. Nelson suggested that Maez request a change of address or have his winter bills forwarded to Las Vegas.

[21,318,13,4151

post-68346","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-cortez","tag-cortez-municipal-government","tag-frontpage-lead","tag-waste-management-and-pollution-control
["GET
