Band member Matt Robinson, a Southwest Open School science teacher, plays guitar while Peter Ortego pounds the drums.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Sam Green\/The Journal<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>The Spinning Wheels, featuring Dolores and Durango musicians, will play the Riverfront Bar and Grill in Dolores on Saturday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n<p>The band plays Americana infused with \u201ca sonic, spiritual worldly flare\u201d and an assortment of stylized covers, according to the website CD Baby.<\/p>\n<p>Band members Matt Robinson (guitar), John Toolan (harmonica, guitar, vocals), Dan Miller (bass), Darcy Cole (guitar), and Peter Ortego (drums) are known for their high energy performances as well as intimate acoustic sets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur music is heavily influenced by Southwestern culture,\u201d the band\u2019s website says. \u201cWe\u2019re very eclectic and our set lists are derived from a variety of genres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Spinning Wheels have been around for ten years and have two albums out, \u201cHummingbird World,\u201d and their latest release, \u201cStreets of Durango,\u201d recorded at Scooters Place in Durango.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new songs have a lot of Southwestern imagery,\u201d says Robinson. \u201cOur live shows are Americana spiced up with Rock-n-Roll.
