Several businesses hoping to move into Cortez or expand their operations will bring their plans before the city council at its 7:30 p.m. meeting on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The agenda includes a public hearing for a possible liquor license for the new Mi Mexico Restaurant, which is moving into the old Beny\u2019s Diner location on 550 S. Broadway.<\/p>\n

The council will consider approving the sale of real estate to Montezuma Partners LLC for commercial purposes and a site development plan for an expansion to the Herbal Alternative dispensary.<\/p>\n

The plan to add another grow operation to Herbal Alternative was recommended for approval by the Cortez planning and zoning commission at its May 2 meeting, but must receive final approval from the council before the property owners can move forward.<\/p>\n

The council also will consider approving a first reading of an ordinance that would sell the old City Hall on 210 E. Main St. to the Pi\u00f1on Project.<\/p>\n

If the ordinance is approved, the council will schedule a public hearing to discuss the sale agreement, in which the Pi\u00f1on Project would buy the building for $300,000 with a $60,000 down payment.<\/p>\n

The council meeting will start with a workshop at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, where council members will discuss a possible inventory of historical buildings in downtown Cortez, building safety month and a possible lease of 1,000 acre-feet of water to the Dolores Water Conservancy, an item that will also be on the main meeting agenda.<\/p>\n

A public comment section.<\/em>A vote on a resolution to approve an amended plat of a section of the Cortez Industrial Park.<\/em>A discussion on a draft letter of support for a possible low-income housing development in Cortez.<\/em>A discussion on whether to approve an extended contract for ME&E Engineering to complete a second phase of the rec center heating, vents and air conditioning design project.<\/em>A discussion on whether to approve the purchase of 144 membrane filter cartridges for the Cortez water treatment facility, in the amount of $104,536.<\/em>A discussion on whether to approve a one-year water lease agreement to the Dolores Water Conservancy.<\/em>A discussion on whether to approve the annual self-insured health fund administration contract for city employees.<\/em>A discussion on whether to set a public hearing for an agreement with the Cortez Fire Protection District to waive a $14,442 fee for inspections on the new fire station, in exchange for a piece of property at 928 S.
