Barney will work alongside the company\u2019s founder, Kristin Carpenter-Ogden, on the company\u2019s newly launched Verde Strategy division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled to be working alongside Kristin and the Verde team as we help our industry make the most of both the opportunities and challenges of 2017,\u201c Barney said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>Barney led Cortez-based Osprey Packs for 15 years, helping to expand the company to 65 countries. Barney left the company in October.<\/p>\n<p>Barney has been working the sales floor at Backcountry Experience in Durango and writing about the experience for outdoor industry news website SNEWS as part of that website\u2019s Retail Immersion Project.<\/p>\n<p>Barney will speak on The Retail Immersion Project during the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market at 3 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barneydu1-i-syn Barney will be the company\u2019s chief operating officer.
