A retrospective exhibit featuring the works of Mancos artist Veryl Goodnight opens today at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n

The show, titled \u201cNo Turning Back,\u201d features 11 paintings and 17 sculptures from throughout Goodnight\u2019s 45-year career. Several of the pieces feature similar subjects and will be paired together, and some will be accompanied by poetry, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo Turning Back\u201d debuted Thursday with an opening reception. It will continue until October 30, and Goodnight will be inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in a ceremony October 27. The Hall of Fame inducts four or five women each year, who are selected through a rigorous process, according to a press release from the Hall of Fame. Goodnight joins a group of about 220 other cowgirls, including former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n

Other 2016 Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductees include Marilyn Williams Harris, an Arizona rancher and environmentalist; Frances Rosenthal Kallison, a Texas rancher who died in 2004 and worked to document Jewish history in the Lone Star State; and Pat North Ommert, a skilled trick rider from California.<\/p>\n
