Journal file<br><br>The Pi\u00f1on Project is sponsoring a series of activities and trips for kids this summer.<\/span>du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

School may be out, but activities are still going on for Cortez kids.<\/p>\n

The Pi\u00f1on Project has been offering daily activities Monday through Thursday along with Friday adventure trips for young people 7 and older. The activities began June 3, will last through mid-August and are free.<\/p>\n

A free lunch will also be provided to young people on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

On a weekly basis, Monday will feature gardening, Tuesday a free movie at the Fiesta Theatre, Wednesday will be an outdoor pool day, and Thursday a sports day.<\/p>\n

Fridays include a series of \u201cadventure trips\u201d to nearby parks and trails. These trips require an RSVP at least 48 hours in advance.<\/p>\n

The first month of the programming saw treks to Sand Canyon, Boggy Draw, Mancos State Park, and the Carpenter Trail. Future Friday trips and activities include:<\/p>\n

July 5: Ice cream party at Parque de Vida, 1 to 4:30 p.m.<\/em>July 12: Black Rock, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/em>July 19: Mancos State Park, 1 to 4:30 p.m.<\/em>July 26: Telluride Gondola, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/em>Aug. 2: Hawkins Preserve, 1 to 4:30 p.m.<\/em>Aug. 9: Dolores River Trail, 1 to 4:30 p.m.<\/em>Aug. 16: Water balloon fight, 1 to 4:30 p.m.<\/em>Interested participants should meet at Montezuma Park on the corner of Montezuma Avenue and Market Street.<\/p>\n
