Palm Theater.

“It’s such a weird, wild movie,” said Sasha Sullivan, artist director for Telluride Theater. “It celebrates diversity, it celebrates fun and it celebrates freakiness.”

Showing the movie in Telluride is fun, she said, because it brings out those same attributes of locals.

The film, originally released in 1975, tells the tale of Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, who discover the eerie mansion of a transvestite scientist named Dr. Frank N. Furter.

Brad and Janet slowly lose their suburban innocence as they are overcome by Dr. Frank N. Furter’s eccentric world of fish nets, dark humor, sexual innuendos, red lipstick and deviant characters including an incestuous castle maid, a creepy butler and dancing ‘Transylvanians.’

With elaborate choreography and funky rock songs, Dr. Frank N. Furter unveils his latest Frankenstein-esque creation; a chiseled, testosterone-fueled hunk named Rocky.

Even at 44 years old, the film is still screened around the world with a massive cult following of audiences dressed in costume, bringing their own props, yelling out their favorite lines and dancing to catchy, quirky songs.

Audiences don’t just watch a Rocky Horror shadow cast; they experience it.

“We really want to create a big party. Get dressed, have some drinks and be raucous,” Sullivan advised. “What’s better than singing along, dancing in the aisles and participating in this wild event?”

The audience is engaged for the entire show as they are encouraged to spray water, ring bells, put on party hats, snap rubber gloves, throw playing cards, toilet paper and rice, and of course, dance.

Throwing hot dogs, confetti and Jello are prohibited however, organizers said.

Pre-sale tickets can be purchased for $20 at www.telluridepalm.com or by calling 970-369-5669. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.

VIP tables for four can be purchased for $150 with cocktail service, a bottle of bubbles, Rocky Horror goodie bags and other surprises.

A cash bar is available with beer, wine and other fun concoctions. Attendees must be 19+ years old and costumes are highly encouraged.

For more information visit www.telluridetheatre.org

[5786,5740,5737,5736,5735,5741,5878,5953
44,13,28,29,598,97

post-64662","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-dolores","category-frontpage-lead","category-headlines","category-local-news","category-news","category-newsletter","category-public-holiday","category-telluride","tag-dolores","tag-frontpage-lead","tag-headlines","tag-newsletter","tag-public-holiday","tag-telluride
["GET
