The La Plata County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigated a death Monday at a home in the 400 block of County Road 509 north of Ignacio. Authorities have released few details about the nature of the death. IGNACIO \u2013 Law enforcement made a large response Monday to a home a few miles north of Ignacio where a person was found dead inside the residence.<\/p>\n

La Plata County Sheriff Sean Smith said authorities received a call around 11 a.m. in the 400 block of County Road 509. Deputies arrived to find a deceased person.<\/p>\n

Smith said he could not identify the deceased person, the manner of death or release any other information about the incident as of Monday evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is very fresh, obviously, and I can\u2019t say much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s Office requested the aid of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Smith said CBI investigators are expected to arrive Tuesday, at which time more information may be available.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an interesting situation, and we\u2019re still trying to determine the facts,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll be on scene for an extended period of time with this investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least a half dozen law enforcement vehicles were at the scene Monday afternoon. The driveway was cordoned off with yellow police tape. The rest of the county road was open.<\/p>\n
