{"id":62142,"date":"2018-11-09T13:57:42","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T20:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/bureau-of-reclamation-archaeologist-to-speak-at-fort-lewis-college\/"},"modified":"2018-11-09T20:57:42","modified_gmt":"2018-11-09T20:57:42","slug":"bureau-of-reclamation-archaeologist-to-speak-at-fort-lewis-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/bureau-of-reclamation-archaeologist-to-speak-at-fort-lewis-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Bureau of Reclamation archaeologist to speak at Fort Lewis College"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bureau of Reclamation archaeologist Kristin Bowen will speak at the next meeting of the San Juan Basin Archaeological Society, 7 p.m. Nov. 14, at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.<\/p>\n<p>Bowen will speak about her experiences working as an archaeologist for the federal government and give updates on her office\u2019s current projects, according to a news release from Jill Tripp. She works in Durango as the lead archaeologist for the Bureau of Reclamation Western Colorado Area Office.<\/p>\n<p>Bowen started her career doing historic archaeology in Montana, specializing in mining related sites and documenting ghost towns. She has worked as an archaeologist for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service, in Montana, New Mexico, Nevada and several locations in Colorado.
