Speakers included nominee for Colorado Senate District 6 Guinn Unger, nominee for 3rd Congressional District Diane Mitsch Bush, University of Colorado regent at-large nominee Lesley Smith, secretary of state nominee Jena Griswold, attorney general nominee Phil Weiser, former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, former governor Roy Romer, lieutenant gubernatorial nominee Dianne Primavera and gubernatorial nominee Jared Polis.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates gave their pitch to a vibrant crowd for why they and their Democratic peers should be elected to office. Weiser warned that Colorado\u2019s democracy is at stake. Mitsch Bush promoted protecting and expanding public education, health care and rules to keep the environment.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=145f4518-886e-4a50-9c68-0d7832aec462&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"300\" height=\"442\" alt=\"Mitsch Bush\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Mitsch Bush<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cIt takes a village,\u201d Mitsch Bush said of getting Democrats elected, \u201cand you are that village.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Primavera talked about her battle with breast cancer and how it sharpened her focus on improving health care for all Coloradans.<\/p>\n<p>Polis talked about bridging divides, not just politically, but economically and socially as well. He echoed his running mate\u2019s call for a better health care system in Colorado, promising to take on special interests who \u201cput profit over people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polis stressed the importance of public lands and early education for children. He also promised to stand up for Colorado.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=dacb941c-38cb-4d70-8e9a-cfef22c3306e&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"408\" height=\"600\" alt=\"Polis\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Polis<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cI\u2019m willing to take on this president or any president to protect our Colorado way of life,\u201d Polis said.<\/p>\n<p>Janice Bryan of Mancos said she came to get a chance to meet the candidates, to get a feel for where they stand on different issues.
