Kaitlyn Howerton and Colin Hastings took home top honor as the winners of the event with their moving rendition of \u201cTravelin\u2019 Soldier\u201d by the Dixie Chicks. Colin played guitar while Kaitlyn sang and played the violin. Everyone showed so much talent.<\/p>\n<p>Another notable performance was that of James Hackett and Melissa McKinney, who danced an impressive swing dance. Melissa and James danced so well, everyone was on their feet.<\/p>\n<p>Money raised by the Dolores Student Leaders in Community Service will go back to community projects.<\/p>\n<p>Beatle Mania<\/p>\n<p>On Friday night, there were a lot of bell-bottom jeans and go-go boots as the community gathered to listen to Beatle tribute band Dr. Robert! at the Dolores Community Center. About 200 people gathered to dance and listen to the music, many wearing bell-bottoms, headbands and paisley.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers of the event, Heather Narwid and Marianne Mate, reported that more than $1,200 was raised for improvements at the Community Center.<\/p>\n<p>Chamber hosts banquet<\/p>\n<p>The Dolores Community Center was again the hotspot  Saturday night, hosting the annual Dolores Chamber of Commerce Spring Banquet. The event was catered by the Naked Moose, and a good time was had by all.<\/p>\n<p>Catch up on Facebook (A longer editor\u2019s note)<\/p>\n<p>The Dolores Star updates its Facebook page with Dolores news \u2013 often before the news hits your paper.<\/p>\n<p>For example, sports editor Ian MacLaren and photographer reported the Colorado state wrestling finals live from Denver on Facebook, including videos.<\/p>\n<p>Look for your contributions on Facebook as well. Dolores High School senior Regan Umberger has posted sports and feature photos, including those of talent show winners Kaitlyn Howerton and Colin Hastings.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Vest shared his photo of \u201cZippy the pup,\u201d which garnered almost 40 shares and \u201clikes,\u201d and reached more than 2,400 viewers on the Dolores Star Facebook page. In part because of its popularity, Zippy also was published on the Front Page of the paper.
