He is involved in church activities and is the district commander for the Boy Scouts of America.<\/p>\n<p>Witt\u2019s volunteer work includes helping communities on the Navajo Nation, serving on the Board of Realtors, and past involvement in Southwest Concerts in Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJason brings in new ideas every day, has integrity and supports his colleagues,\u201d Toles said. \u201cA homebuyer recently praised him for his dignified and respectful service in finding an affordable home, after the buyer\u2019s financial situation suddenly changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by his family, Witt accepted the award to the applause of about 50 real estate agents and business people who gathered for the annual awards lunch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love my job, I love the people I work for. Thank you very much,\u201d Witt said. \u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot from others and will continue to serve the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Realtor of the Year award has been given out since 1956. It represents someone who goes the extra mile, said Brenda Bates, outgoing president of the Four Corners Board of Realtors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe award committee looks at what nominees have done for the community, not just top producers,\u201d Bates said. \u201cWitt is somebody who gives back to the community. His dedication, volunteer work and enthusiasm represents who we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Realtors also updated the audience of its scholarship program and real estate sales for the year so far.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Realtors\u2019 Dean Hanson Memorial Golf Tournament raised $10,000 this year for scholarships. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to local students.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report from the Four Corners Board of Realtors shows growth in the local market.<\/p>\n<p>From Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 245 residential properties were sold in Dolores and Montezuma counties, with an average sale price of $206,000. For the same period last year, 219 residential properties were sold.<\/p>\n<p>From Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 15 commercial properties were sold with an average sale price of $341,000.
