Grand Junction-based Oldcastle SW Group submitted a $599,030 bid, and Norwood-based Williams Construction Contractors submitted a $461,954 bid. Officials have recommended approval of the lowest bid.<\/p>\n<p>About 4,700 feet of new water lines is slated to upgrade services on East Main Street between Veach and Cactus streets; Sligo Street from Main Street to Montezuma Avenue; East Empire Street; Beach Street from Main to First streets; and Stratton Drive.<\/p>\n<p>According to public works director Jack Nickerson, water service will be preserved during the project, and temporary water services will be provided to residents affected by the project.<\/p>\n<p>Other items on the council agenda include awarding a concrete cost-share project, authorizing the execution of stipulations and change applications of city water rights, and to renew Beacon Wellness Group\u2019s medical marijuana cultivation license.<\/p>\n<p>Open to the public, the city council meeting at City Hall starts at 7:30 p.m. today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:tbaker@cortezjournal.com\">tbaker@cortezjournal.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Records show the city\u2019s estimated project cost was $419,275.
