{"id":56849,"date":"2013-10-08T21:52:58","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T03:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/mancos-budget-tops-1-6-m\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T15:56:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T15:56:45","slug":"mancos-budget-tops-1-6-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/mancos-budget-tops-1-6-m\/","title":{"rendered":"Mancos budget tops $1.6 M"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The proposed operating budget for the town of Mancos in fiscal year 2014 tops out at more than $1.6 million, up 8 percent from 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half of the town\u2019s proposed overall 2014 budget, nearly $770,000, is tentatively allocated for staff wages, up 5 percent from the previous year. Planned funding for sewer operations is expected to see a double-digit percentage increase to more than $335,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe balanced budget estimates that revenues will meet expenditures,\u201d said Town Administrator Andrea Phillips. \u201cNearly 75 percent of the revenues for the general fund are from sales, property and other taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Phillips said revenues in the water and sewer enterprise fund are almost entirely derived from user fees.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed 2014 capital-improvement budget totals $265,600, which includes an upgrade to the town\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe website will provide a better user experience, and assist the town in sharing critical information with citizens,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Under state law, the board must adopt the budget by Dec. 15.
