The up and down Dolores Bears continued its roller coaster baseball season at home Saturday.<\/p>\n
After an 0-4 start, Dolores evened its record after reeling off four straight wins.<\/p>\n
However, the Bears have since lost three in a row.<\/p>\n
Dolores fell 13-3 in five innings to San Juan (Blanding, Utah) early Saturday afternoon at Joe Rowell Park.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not hitting right now,\u201d Bears coach Chris Barry said. \u201cEverything they hit, dropped in between players. Everything went their way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dolores (4-7) doesn\u2019t have much time to think about what went wrong. The Bears open San Juan Basin League play this afternoon at Nucla.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a more important game for us, for our standings opening league play,\u201d Barry said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to keep working on fundamentals and try to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n
No. 1 starting pitcher Chaz Thompson has been nursing an injury, but will start on the mound today.<\/p>\n
The Bears have been the big dog in the SJBL the last several years. Barry and the boys are looking at the league slate as a new season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to league play,\u201d Barry said. \u201cIt\u2019s the next stage where we have to step it up and apply everything that we\u2019ve learned.\u201d<\/p>\n
