Duke\u2019s workshop is based on his own extensive research and writing experience. He will look at the major issues and opportunities facing the writer of historical fiction, using his novels \u201cA Terrible Unrest\u201d and \u201cThe Village\u201d as models.<\/p>\n<p>Annette McGivney, author and award-winning journalist, will teach a workshop on \u201cyou can\u2019t make this stuff up: How to write creative nonfiction\u201d from 6 to 7 p.m.  July 15 via Zoom.<\/p>\n<p>McGivney is the author of \u201cPure Land,\u201d which won the 2018 National Outdoor Book Award. She is also the longtime Southwest Editor for Backpacker magazine. McGivney will share wisdom and skills she has gained during three decades working as a journalist writing narrative magazines articles and books.
