It was about 93 degrees outside her house on County Road 234, east of Durango city limits, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was totally parked under that sprinkler when I walked up, and then he kind of raised his head,\u201d she said. \u201cI was like, \u2018Holy crap, look at the size of that thing!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Winkelman watched the snake for 15 to 20 minutes as it moved closer and then farther away from the water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe clearly was enjoying getting cooled off,\u201d she said. \u201cYou know it\u2019s hot when a cold-blooded animal has got to cool off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The snake eventually slithered off to a nearby barn where it found shade, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The heat wave is expected to continue Friday, with temperatures in the 90s.
