He also saw an open door to the business and confronted a man who appeared to be in his early 30s inside the business.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=abf721ca-3c4e-42f6-a1b6-4ce1788d683e&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"998\" height=\"1338\" alt=\"Snow\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Snow<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>The man was later identified as Jason Snow, a 34-year-old man who had recently been released from prison to reduce the risk of coronavirus exposure among inmates.<\/p>\n<p>Snow, who was armed with a handgun, retreated inside the business and ran toward the storefront, according to a news release issued Friday by the police department.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Ingle, who was just outside the storefront, ordered Snow to drop the gun. Snow then fired a shot toward Ingle through the main glass entry door of the business. Snow\u2019s shot shattered the glass door about 3 feet from Ingle, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Ingle continued issuing commands while returning fire, hitting Snow.<\/p>\n<p>Officers immediately called paramedics, who attempted life-saving efforts but were unable to revive him. Hiehle fled the scene and remained on the loose as of Friday. A warrant has been issued for her arrest on suspicion of burglary.<\/p>\n<p>It was the first officer-involved shooting for the Durango Police Department since 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Ingle is described as a four-year veteran of the agency.
