Ray Shupe said Robert Morris, 87, of Durango was shopping at City Market, 6 Town Plaza. He got into his 2010 Subaru Forester at about 9:40 a.m. and mistook the gas pedal for the brake and accelerated out of the parking spot, Shupe said.<\/p>\n<p>The car then struck a pedestrian, identified as Michael McGuffey. The car then hit three other vehicles before stopping.<\/p>\n<p>McGuffey was taken by helicopter to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. Shupe said he was in critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>The three other vehicles sustained moderate to severe damage, Shupe said.<\/p>\n<p>Morris was cited with careless driving causing injury.
