{"id":52222,"date":"2020-08-11T23:32:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T05:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/escaped-lamb-leads-residents-on-chase-through-downtown-cortez\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T03:58:59","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T09:58:59","slug":"escaped-lamb-leads-residents-on-chase-through-downtown-cortez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/escaped-lamb-leads-residents-on-chase-through-downtown-cortez\/","title":{"rendered":"Escaped lamb leads residents on chase through downtown Cortez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:bb9806cb-1431-4239-adcf-ae051456d85d --><\/p>\n<p>A lamb on the loose in downtown Cortez Tuesday morning triggered community cooperation and excitement.<\/p>\n<p>The 4-month-old escaped from her trailer parked near Pippos, then sprinted down North Street, baying as she went.<\/p>\n<p>Passersby sprung into action and attempted to corral her.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Begay was walking on Main Street when he saw the sheep running in the street and alley and decided to help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a flagger, so I stopped traffic. When I got close, I dove for her but missed by 6 inches,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was a hilarious show of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other passersby joined in the chase.
