The siblings were escorted by their aunt, not seen, who said she\u2019s helping her sister with child care as the family balances work with the remote schooling schedule.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Cedar Attanasio\/Associated Press<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a waiver allowing the food programs to continue for as long as funding lasts for all children in the state, regardless of whether they qualify for income-based programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a huge relief for many New Mexico families who might not qualify for free meals but are still facing hard times because of this pandemic,\u201d said Public Education Secretary Ryan Stewart. \u201cNow feeding their children is one less worry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most of the state\u2019s 89 school districts have no in-person learning, though a few elementary schools started Sept. 8.
