Discovery DIY Network finished filming construction of the off-grid home last weekend.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Filming finished Sunday on Ignacio\u2019s newest, soon-to-be-famous earthen home.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Shalina Luna and her daughter, Joli Galvan, residents just south of Ignacio, <a href=\"https:\/\/durangoherald.com\/articles\/337804\">embarked on a warp-speed project<\/a> to build the 18-year-old an off-grid, earthen house in four weeks \u2013 with Discovery DIY Network film crews in tow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recording is a wrap, the filming was awesome and we\u2019re pretty confident that we\u2019re going to get everything finished by our deadline,\u201d Luna said.<\/p>\n<p>While Luna can confirm filming is complete, she couldn\u2019t reveal whether the house is finished because of network contracts \u2013 that would be a spoiler, she said.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=64a0ca0e-f547-4ff2-92b4-21b4e0ed6e98&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" alt=\"Shalina Luna inside the earthen home she is building for her daughter, Joli Galvan, 18.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Shalina Luna inside the earthen home she is building for her daughter, Joli Galvan, 18.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Community members will just have to tune into the episode of \u201cBuilding Off the Grid\u201d in December to see how the build went.<\/p>\n<p>Luna could say that recording took place for 12 to 16 hours each day, seven days a week. They\u2019ll see something \u201cunique\u201d while watching a family build a home, Luna said.<\/p>\n<p>The family already lives in an off-grid house on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation, and Galvin\u2019s new home was built on the same property.
