Baizel will also be responsible for directing various agency priorities.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=fc941b1c-109f-4474-ae93-3478011038a5&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"800\" height=\"1085\" alt=\"Baizel\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Baizel<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cBruce is a national leader in environmental law, regulations and policy,\u201d said NMED Cabinet Secretary James Kenney. \u201cHe will further our efforts to improve public health outcomes for communities while protecting our environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baizel has extensive oil and gas industry policy experience and served on the New Mexico Methane Advisory Panel. The panel met in 2019 and drafted a document that helped the department come up with oil and gas regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBaizel also served on review teams with the State Review of Oil and Natural Gas Environmental Regulations (STRONGER), evaluating the oil and gas regulations of Colorado, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Virginia,\u201d said Maddy Hayden, NMED spokeswoman.<\/p>\n<p>Baizel will have a different role in each agency.
