{"id":49502,"date":"2021-01-05T17:37:29","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T00:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/as-expected-trial-postponed-for-la-plata-county-man-suspected-of-killing-son\/"},"modified":"2021-01-06T00:37:29","modified_gmt":"2021-01-06T00:37:29","slug":"as-expected-trial-postponed-for-la-plata-county-man-suspected-of-killing-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/as-expected-trial-postponed-for-la-plata-county-man-suspected-of-killing-son\/","title":{"rendered":"As expected, trial postponed for La Plata County man suspected of killing son"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=99f5b902-bfc8-4fb9-a0ac-dcd1e032c2de&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1119\" alt=\"The trial for Mark Redwine, accused of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan, in 2012, was reset to April 12.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">The trial for Mark Redwine, accused of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan, in 2012, was reset to April 12.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald file<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Once again, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trial for Mark Redwine has been delayed, this time until the spring, which means the Vallecito man accused of killing his son could be in jail nearly four years without a trial.<\/p>\n<p>Redwine, accused of killing his 13-year-old son, Dylan, in 2012, was scheduled to start a multi-week trial Jan. 25.<\/p>\n<p>But at a brief court hearing Tuesday morning, the trial was reset to April 12.<\/p>\n<p>District Judge Jeffery Wilson said summonses for the jury trial, which could go out to hundreds of La Plata County residents, should start to be mailed in early March.<\/p>\n<p>Redwine has a pretrial conference scheduled for March 5.<\/p>\n<p>Since Redwine was arrested in July 2017, there have been numerous postponements and delays.<\/p>\n<p>Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the trial was put on hold multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>In summer 2019, for instance, the trial was postponed after one of Redwine\u2019s public defenders was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and domestic violence.
