{"id":49356,"date":"2021-01-12T21:22:27","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T04:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/motocross-season-to-kick-off-memorial-day-weekend\/"},"modified":"2021-01-13T04:22:27","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T04:22:27","slug":"motocross-season-to-kick-off-memorial-day-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/motocross-season-to-kick-off-memorial-day-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Motocross season to kick off Memorial Day weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- Missing image mapping. {\"id\":393198,\"url\":\"\/\/dur-cjweb.newscyclecloud.com\/storyimage\/CJ\/20210112\/Sports01\/210119972\/AR\/0\/AR-210119972.jpg\",\"caption_title\":\"\",\"caption\":\"Eli Tomac won last yearu0026#x2019;s AMA Motocross race at Thunder Valley in Lakewood.\",\"article_id\":198768,\"factbox_id\":null,\"photo_byline\":\"Kawasaki Racing\",\"alt_text\":null,\"orientation_landscape\":true,\"in_article\":false,\"is_square\":false,\"gallery_id\":null,\"created_at\":\"2021-01-12T21:22:33.000-07:00\",\"updated_at\":\"2021-01-12T21:22:33.000-07:00\",\"width\":2048,\"height\":1364,\"order\":0,\"photo_sales\":false,\"special_report_id\":null,\"durango_coupon_id\":null,\"guid\":null,\"naviga_url\":null} --><\/p>\n<p>MORGANTOWN, W.VA. \u2013 The 2021 motocross season will kick off on Memorial Day weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule announced by AMA Motocross on Tuesday will begin May 29 at Fox Raceway National in Pala, California, and will zigzag across the country before returning to the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The series will return to Colorado\u2019s Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood on June 5, where Cortez\u2019s Eli Tomac won a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Hangtown National, typically the opening race on the 12-stop schedule, will now be the season finale on Sept. 11 outside of Sacramento.<\/p>\n<p>The series will include races at High Point Raceway in Pennsylvania, Budds Creek Motocross Park in Maryland and at Washougal MX Park in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Series organizers anticipate allowing spectators at all races.<\/p>\n<p>Tomac will be in search of a fourth AMA Motocross title. After three consecutive series victories from 2017-19, he placed third in 2020 with 321 points.
