{"id":48517,"date":"2021-02-18T18:02:40","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T01:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/electric-bills-delayed-because-of-storm-in-texas\/"},"modified":"2021-02-19T01:02:40","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T01:02:40","slug":"electric-bills-delayed-because-of-storm-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/electric-bills-delayed-because-of-storm-in-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric bills delayed because of storm in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=c41c0976-2a23-421c-928e-bfc5d6477d98&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2000\" alt=\"The Farmington Electric Utility System announced on its Facebook page that bills will arrive late because of the winter storm that hit Texas.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">The Farmington Electric Utility System announced on its Facebook page that bills will arrive late because of the winter storm that hit Texas.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Farmington Electric Utility System<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>FARMINGTON \u2013 Electric utility bills will be delivered late to some Farmington customers this week as a result of the winter storm that hit most of the United States and left hundreds of thousands without power in Texas, where the utility system\u2019s bills are printed and mailed.<\/p>\n<p>The Farmington Electric Utility System, a public utility owned by the city of Farmington, posted a notice Thursday on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company that prints and mails our bills is located in Texas and their local post office is experiencing a loss of power during the unprecedented storms that have hit their region,\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n<p>The post from the utility system went on to say that the Texas company, Data Prose, has not been able to mail anything all week, which will \u201ccause a delay in you receiving your bill if it was generated this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtis Nelson, chief operating officer for the company, said while there have been some challenges during the storm, it has been able to submit mail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the USPS facilities that process our mail have been without power,\u201d Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the company did consider switching those operations to a second production site in California but that there wouldn\u2019t be any time saved at this point.<\/p>\n<p>The Farmington Electric Utility System serves about 46,000 customers, according to numbers provided by the city of Farmington.
