A year-round, daily, nonstop flight to Salt Lake City will begin flying out of Durango\u2019s airport on May 12.<\/p>\n

The flight to Salt Lake City International Airport will be offered by Delta Connection service and operated by SkyWest Airlines<\/a>. Tickets are available now at delta.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The plane will be a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200.<\/p>\n

Flights will be operated daily, with one departure and arrival seven days per week. Beginning May 26, flight frequency will increase to two daily departures and arrivals seven days per week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to welcome Delta flights to the Durango-La Plata County Airport,\u201d said Aviation Director Tony Vicari. \u201cAdding a third major airline at DRO opens up new choices for our community, improves access for visitors and will have a significant impact on our regional economy as we continue to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new Delta service to Salt Lake City will offer more options to travelers who use Durango-La Plata County Airport<\/a> and will provide passengers with greater connectivity through Delta\u2019s extensive route network.<\/p>\n

Delta offers 250 daily flights to 85 destinations from Salt Lake City. Popular destinations from DRO that could see improvements in accessibility as a result of the added service include Seattle; Atlanta; Portland, Oregon; and San Francisco.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur customers have asked for additional air service, and we feel confident they will support this route by flying local from DRO on Delta,\u201d Vicari said in a news release. \u201cAn additional carrier in our market fosters healthy competition, resulting in downward pressure on airfares, increased destination and connectivity options and improved service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Durango-La Plata County Airport served more than 390,000 passengers in 2019 and contributes more than $290 million annually to the regional economy.<\/p>\n

The airport is now served by three of the largest U.S. airlines: American, Delta and United \u2013 offering year-round daily nonstop routes to Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Phoenix and Salt Lake City, along with seasonal service to Los Angeles International Airport.<\/p>\n

The airport operates as an enterprise fund of the city of Durango and generates self-sustaining revenue from airport tenants and users in the form of airline rent and landing fees, terminal concessions, ground leases and parking fees.<\/p>\n
