(Sam Green\/Special to The Journal)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Sam Green\/Special to The Journal<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>After a slow start to its season, the Dove Creek High School boys baseball team appears to be getting hot at the right time.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs\u2019 most recent victory in a string of solid performance came at home against Pagosa Springs High School on May 25, when the team stormed back from an early 3-0 deficit to a runaway 13-4 win.<\/p>\n<p>Leading Dove Creek\u2019s potent offense were junior Ryan Jarmon, who registered a team-high three hits and scored a game-high three runs, and junior Blaine Johnson, who drove in a team-high three runs.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Kevin Purkat had two RBIs for the Bulldogs, and freshman Gage Buffington, senior Isaiah Knox, and sophomore Kendall Gardner all drove in a single run for Dove Creek.<\/p>\n<p><!-- gallery:45972742-132c-4833-b082-9f306ad03f7c --><\/p>\n<p>In addition to showcasing his prowess at the plate, Purkat turned in a solid performance on the mound for his team, with 10 strikeouts and just one walk in seven innings of work.<\/p>\n<p>After falling behind 3-0 in the opening inning, the Bulldogs took the lead when they scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning.  A two-run bottom of the fourth inning put Dove Creek ahead 6-4 before the team scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break the game open.<\/p>\n<p>Now 5-5 on the season and winners of their last four games, Dove Creek will take a brief break from game action before hitting the road for a doubleheader against Rangely on June 3.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=a15f9bcb-df7b-505f-ba5a-1848315bdcc2&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" alt=\"No. 8, Isaiah Knox, is congratulated by his team after hitting a home run May 25 in the home game against Pagosa Springs.
