The convenience store\/gas station at Hesperus has reopened with new owners 2\u00bd years after the beginning of an extended remodel.<\/p>\n

Carolann Parsons, who co-owns Hesperus Station with her daughter-in-law, Sheridan Parsons, said they plan to add offerings at the store\/gas station to include diesel fuel, take-and-bake pizzas and calzones, and they are working to get a liquor license.<\/p>\n

Next summer, they plan to add a Jeep rental service, beginning with just a few Jeeps, then adding vehicles as demand dictates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe opened on April 23, slowly, gradually,\u201d Carolann Parsons said. \u201cNow, almost every day we\u2019re adding new products.\u201d<\/p>\n

The store will feature locally made products, and so far, the store\u2019s best sellers are cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos made by Sherrie\u2019s Homebaked Goods of Kline.<\/p>\n

Parsons said she intends to add locally raised meat and locally grown greens and herbs, in addition to staples, such as milk and eggs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to be a one-stop shop with something extra,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

A car show featuring more than 50 vehicles was held at Hesperus Station during the Memorial Day weekend grand opening, and Parson plans to hold special events in the future.<\/p>\n

The Hesperus Oasis, the previous convenience store\/gas station at the site, 10864 U.S. Highway 160, closed in October 2018 for a remodel.<\/p>\n

The work extended for 2\u00bd years after the previous store\u2019s owner died at the beginning of the project and the COVID-19 pandemic also delayed work.<\/p>\n

However, Parsons said the delays allowed her daughter-in-law and her to invest in a local business.<\/p>\n

Soon, they plan to add a propane exchange, wood bundles and offer Colorado Lottery tickets.<\/p>\n

The store has three employees.<\/p>\n

Its hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
