(Courtesy San Miguel County Sheriff's Office)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A rock climber was rescued at Cracked Canyon near Ophir Monday, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The experienced local climber was injured in a 30-foot fall about 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A four-hour technical rescue operation was required in rugged, mountainous terrain, and involved three dozen staff and volunteers from multiple agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The climber was transported from the scene by ambulance to a nearby Careflight helicopter and flown to St. Mary\u2019s Hospital in Grand Junction.<\/p>\n<p>Cracked Canyon is a remote climber\u2019s crag in the vicinity of the Ophir Wall off  Colorado Highway 145.<\/p>\n<p>During the rescue effort Monday, Cracked Canyon was closed for the day. Ophir Road was limited to one lane of traffic, but has opened to two lanes of traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Agencies involved included San Miguel Search and Rescue, Telluride Fire Protection District, and San Miguel Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=94efe936-52e7-5a14-b009-beda55e29d57&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"720\" height=\"1004\" alt=\"Cracked Canyon near Ophir is a destination for experienced rock climbers.
