(Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Dylan Redwine discovered sordid pictures of his father during a 2011 Midwest trip with him and his older brother, Cory \u2013 shattering the then 12-year-old boy\u2019s image of Mark Redwine.<\/p>\n<p>Cory Redwine testified Wednesday that Dylan discovered the photos of Mark Redwine eating feces from a diaper, while dressed in a diaper and women\u2019s clothing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDylan lost any reason to look up to Mark that day,\u201d Cory said.<\/p>\n<p>The testimony came during the third day of the trial for Mark Redwine, 59, for second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in Dylan\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>While Mark Redwine was sleeping during the 2011 trip, Dylan discovered the photos on Redwine\u2019s computer, became agitated and struggled to get Cory\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was pretty disgusted. It was something he had to try to contain himself,\u201d Cory said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7MxYtmPof4M\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Dylan eventually showed Cory the photographs after the two had locked themselves in a hotel room bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>Cory then took photos of the photographs with his cellphone.<\/p>\n<p>In opening statements, prosecutors said Dylan\u2019s confrontation with his father about the photos was the trigger that sent Mark Redwine into a rage leading him to kill his son during a 2012 Thanksgiving holiday court-ordered custody visit in Vallecito.<\/p>\n<p>Before Cory Redwine\u2019s testimony, Elaine Hall, Dylan and Cory\u2019s mother, told of her frantic search that began Nov., 19, 2012, when Dylan first was reported missing by Mark Redwine.<\/p>\n<p>As Dylan Redwine was boarding a plane to begin his court-ordered 2012 Thanksgiving holiday visit to Vallecito, Hall said she teased a hug out of her son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was boarding his plane; he was walking away. I said, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re too old to give your mom a hug?\u2019 And he came back and gave me a hug,\u201d she said, wiping her eyes with a tissue.<\/p>\n<p>It would be the last time Elaine Hall saw her youngest son alive.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=6049cb63-b6bf-5f61-a3ba-661b07203916&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1180\" alt=\"Elaine Hall, the mother of Dylan Redwine, identifies Mark Redwine in the courtroom Wednesday in Durango. (Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Hall recounted the frantic day of Nov. 19 when Dylan was discovered missing, crying when shown pictures of her son smiling with friends the day before he left Colorado Springs, where he was staying with his mom.<\/p>\n<p>Hall, only months before Dylan\u2019s death, had won an acrimonious custody battle in which Mark Redwine had objected to her moving Dylan to Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n<p>The custody hearing was part of a contentious divorce that lasted from 2005 through 2009 before the divorce was finalized, but custody disputes continued through the summer of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Hall cried again when Dylan\u2019s clothing, pillow, pillow case and other belongings were displayed. They were items she had given to law enforcement hoping tracking dogs would be able to locate her son.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5PX0hsvjKk\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In text messages sent to her ex-husband on Nov. 19, 2012, she expressed her  suspicions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wouldn\u2019t just leave,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe would have called me. I am so suspect of you right now. (Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Hall also said her participation in a public rally outside her ex-husband\u2019s house and active posting on social media were all efforts to find Dylan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was frantic,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was so surreal. You don\u2019t expect anything like this to happen to you. I figured he was safe because he was with his dad, and I was devastated that no one knew where my son was,\u201d she testified.<\/p>\n<p>After leaving Monument at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19, 2012, she arrived at 2 a.m. the next morning in Bayfield and went to the Marshal\u2019s Office, then to a friend\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>She said she got no sleep that day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5PX0hsvjKk\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Wednesday court proceedings ended with Cory Redwine still on the stand.<\/p>\n<p>Dylan\u2019s older brother testified that during a subsequent trip involving Dylan and his father to watch Major League Baseball games, Dylan texted him that he wanted Cory to send the compromising photos of his father to him.<\/p>\n<p>The request came after Mark Redwine had told Dylan that Elaine Hall and Cory were not good role models for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey send me those poop pics of Papa because he gave me a speech about you guys being a bad example and I want to show him who he really is,\u201d Dylan texted his older brother in August 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Cory had decided not to send Dylan the photos, worried that while Dylan was with his father, whom he had lost confidence in, the pictures would only inflame an argument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to fuel a bigger fire,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Dylan made seven requests for Cory to send the sordid photos to him, Cory testified.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Jeffrey Wilson abruptly ended Wednesday\u2019s proceedings during Cory Redwine\u2019s testimony when Cory was asked about a discussion of the photos he had during an episode of the \u201cDr. Phil\u201d show.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson said he would have to have discussions with the attorneys before testimony continues.<\/p>\n<p><em id=\"emphasis-54858fc8358998a4fdebd9284f0a41db\"><a href=\"mailto:parmijo@durangoherald.com\">parmijo@durangoherald.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This article was republished on June 24 to attribute a paragraph to a story by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2021\/06\/23\/mark-redwine-murder-trial-dylan-elaine-hall-testimony\/\" id=\"link-8bb95139684e484e221c272fe1b5dd85\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shelly Bradbury of the Denver Post.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video wp-block-embed-youtube naviga-video-embed\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vrn0xrJvgSc\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
